Instructions: Now that your group has decided on an issue, you must demonstrate that there is a problem. You will turn in this research sheet completed with two articles attached that you showed that there is a problem

I. There is a problem in society today. That problem is:

The minimum drinking age in all 50 states, today, is 21. This minimum age should be lowered to 18 for obvious reasons. The United states Constitution states that after reaching the age of 18 you are legally an adult, this should include the right/responsibility to consume alcohol.

II. Facts that demonstrate that there is a problem are:
At 18 (according to the constitution), you are given the responsibilities of an adult; voting, living alone, adopting kids, buying tobacco, etc, but you can not drink. You can fight for your country in war, but can not legally consume alcohol at the age of 18; this is meaningless. Some people get married before 21. What kind of a wedding is sober wedding/honeymoon? In 2005, the federal governments national survey on Drug Use and Health found that 85 percent of 20-year-old Americans reported they had used alcohol. Lowering the drinking agewould prevent alot of kids frtom getting in trouble with police, causing more fines to be paid for unnesecary punishment.
